Our traditional rowing boats offer a wonderful way to spend time outdoors, whether you are looking for a relaxed family activity, a romantic afternoon on the river or a memorable day out with friends.

No previous experience is needed — our rowing boats are simple and enjoyable to use, making them suitable for all ages. Set off at your own pace, enjoy the tranquillity of the river and discover a different perspective of Dedham Vale from the water.

Opening Times

We aim to offer rowing boat hire from April through to September, with boats available seven days a week from mid July to August.

As our boat hire is dependent on river conditions and weather, opening times may vary. We recommend checking ahead before travelling to avoid disappointment, particularly during periods of poor weather or high river levels.

Monday – Friday
9:00am – 4:00pm

Saturday – Sunday
9:00am – 5:00pm

The last boats go out one hour before closing time.

Please note that boat availability is always subject to safe river conditions.

Boat hire is available during the warmer months, with boats available on a first come, first row basis. There is no need to plan ahead or make a booking — simply arrive, check availability and enjoy your time on the river.

Are the boats open?

We aim to have the boats in the water between mid-April until the end of September. This is very dependent on weather and river levels. Please see the website homepage or call us before setting off

Yes, we allow small, well behaved dogs inside and outside. Keep them on a lead at all times.

Please respect other customers, and be mindful that we are in a food establishment with children around. Dogs are also allowed in the boats.

We don’t take booking for the boats, they are first come first row. At peak times there will be a queue and extended wait times, thank you for your understanding.

Yes, at our discretion we may require a deposit to hire the boats. We have 3 convenient ways:- £50 cash, £60 debit card or securely holding driving licence & debit card.

Please bring a form of deposit with you to avoid disappointment.
